Our main drain got backed up and waste started coming up in our furnace room. We called another company to snake it and do camera work. I saw the camera view. Apparently, we have clay pipes and they are broken at two points. One inside the house and one just outside. The plumber said it would have to be excavated inside and outside the house and it would cost $4700 (includes HST). The clay pipes would be replaced with plastic PVC. Right now the snaking has kept things clear and there’s no backups, but our plumber said it would happen again. Is there a less expensive way to repair/replace the clay pipes?
