Everyone must have experienced plumbing problems some time or the other in life. While there are various such plumbing issues that can crop up in an average home, some need the attention of plumbers, others are easy to fix and you can do it on your own. We shall now get to learn about some common house plumbing problems and solutions so that you can handle the situation yourself and save a good amount of money.
1. Low Water Pressure
If you are experiencing low water pressure issues then there likely is a problem with your sink. The first thing you need to do is check if both cold and hot water is being affected by low water pressure. If both cold and hot water has low pressure then there is a problem with the aerator. Calcium deposits slowly start collecting in the faucet aerator and this reduces the pressure of water. You can very easily fix this blocked aerator problem. To clean the aerator you first need to remove it, then remove any build up and debris and put it back in place. You will enjoy proper water pressure once again.
2. Slow Draining Tub
A slow draining tub is also a very common problem that you can fix very easily. Usually, the tub drain easily collects hair that slows the water down when it drains out of your tub. You can easily clean the hair in your tub drain by using tools like a pair of needle nose pliers or the Zip-it tool. If you have a tub stopper in your drain then you will first need to remove this stopper before being able to get rid of the clogged hair. It will be wise to clean the debris collected in your tub drain regularly, even if is not draining slowly. If it is allowed to stay for too long, then it may clog your drain completely.
3. Slow Draining Sink
A slow draining sink is a plumbing issue that is experienced by almost everyone. Generally, the pop-up used to stop the sink collects debris and hair over time. To allow your drain to flow smoothly again you have to clean this debris. You can do so again by using the Zip-it plumbing tool. You may even remove the pop-up and then clean it. Generally, pop-ups are secured into place with the help of a nut attached to the drain right under the sink, and it can be removed using pliers. After you remove the nut, you can clean the pop-up and put it back in place.
